Engineers make up the modern world. To get a better world to
live in we need innovations. So engineers who come out every year round the
world should not just be well trained techies knowing to do whatever the
organization for which they are working for trains them for but they should be
able to bring out new ideas and thoughts. This would benefit not only the
organization but also himself in building up an enjoyable career. He feels as if
he is working for himself and not as a worker just finishing the job for the
sake of pay.
The first and foremost thing that a student must understand is "Never study for exams, study for yourself, study to excel rather than scoring a 90% by mere memorization". Even if u score a 60% but u have the confidence that whatever u have studied is by proper technique and is well versed about the FUNDAMENTALS,its many times better than a 90% that u have obtained through an exam oriented study.Ur confidence will be so high that u will be ready to face any exam or interview by reputed firms. All of the top firms give priority to this factor than academic record(which also by the way should not be left behind). A high GPA is easy to obtain if have spent enough time in strengthening the fundamentals of each topic,so that the rest can be easily built up using these fundamentals. If u are so particular about the GPA,as the exam approaches try to look up previous question papers and practice these applying the fundamental concepts.U fill find yourself with a shining GPA.
I think the exam oriented studies is increasing now a days( at least in my country India), mainly because of the students feeling of security that if they just pass the exams they will easily get absorbed in some IT outsourcing companies which recrute in mass numbers from technical campuses every year here.In these companies students work in entirely different field than what they have studied. Its okay if u r interested but many works just for the sake of pay,and the mental tensions one has to face working in this field without interest is very high.
So excel in whatever engineering major u r studying.Master the concepts.Strengthen your fundas. You will find success coming after u eventually.
